I just received a new Colt Government back from Chuck at Rogers Precision.

I am very impressed. His attention to detail is amazing in this day and age. I am picky and I found nothing on it that I could complain about. Plus he is a very nice guy to boot. We spoke a few times and he was always friendly, courteous and polite.

It started life as a new / unfired NRM Colt Government model. I was looking for a clean, classic looking carry gun without the frills. I am not a fan of checkering or mag wells and just wanted a clean business like gun I could depend on.

I sent it to Chuck and he did the following:

Heinie Slant Pro rear sight
Cross dovetail / pinned, ramped and serrated front sight
Moderate slide to frame fit
Reliability package with Wilson BP extractor
Rework ejection port
Bevel mag well
Carry bevel package
Extended ejector
Brown grip safety - no pad
Brown thumb safety
Stainless barrel bushing
Match crown barrel
Barstock plunger tube
Casull short trigger
4# trigger job
Wilson Ultralight hammer
Wilson A-6 match sear
Briley disconnector
Wilson checkered steel mainspring housing
Bead blast and matte blue

It turned out better than I expected.

The only problem is now I need to send him another one because I don't want to get this one dirty.

If you are looking for a true artisan to build your next one, give Chuck a call.

Mike

I have received some emails for photos of certain areas, I added some detail shots.

That is a wonderful gun, Mike!

Mike, I guess I can share. I am just blown away by the work he does. From simple, business-like to competition and everything in between. He takes enough time, care, and pride that if there was any part of 1911 'smithing he wasn't good at, you'll never know! I intend to have him make several, to different specs, just to let him surprise me.

Clean, classic, and perfectly done. That is an incredible pistol. I really like the work you requested and it was executed unbelievably well. Always a treat to see gunsmithing at this level. The port, magwell, BT, MSH, bevel, .....Hell it is all awesome. I am a big admirer of the work done by Pistolwrench. Congratulations on having such a nice blaster.
