Two stage, you can always pull through both but you can't stage up a single. Singles have marginal reset speed advantages over a two stage but overall weight is the same and perceived weight is higher on a single

 

I would just get a single stage for a fast action shooting (PCC). I was taught that a single stage has a mechanical advantage for speed. I am not a mechanical engineer so I won’t try to explain it, but I can tell you that I have tried both and for fast shooting and the single is more effective for me and most of my friends. If I was always shooting long range maybe a two stage, but for me and my shooting style I can/will slow down with a single stage trigger for a long range target. Not a problem.

Take my advice with a grain of salt as I don’t shoot PCC.

Really it all boils down to the Indian and not the arrow. Know your trigger.

 

Reset point can occur sooner, less complicated shape with shorter distances in the arc needed for actions to occur. I can't manifest it though, probably my hand honestly not being fast enough for it to matter.

 

I know my man Striker is a shooter. But I have to agree with Harry. The PCC guys who compete for wins at my club are so freaking quick, you'll want the fasted trigger possible. I'm kind of in the same boat. I want to try PCC in USPSA and Steel Challenge. I'll continue to work on my tactics with a handgun in IDPA.

Back to PCC... I've got a new 16" Sig MPX Competition that comes with the Timney trigger. That trigger is an improvement over the stock MPX trigger, and mine is getting better every time I shoot it, but it's not quick enough. I'm sure a better shooter could run my gun faster, but I do feel a bit handicapped with that trigger. The top guys at my club are so blinding fast, and they all use single-stage aftermarket triggers. And FWIW, most of them are shooting CZ Scorpions. I'll stay with my Sig, but those Scorpions offer a lot of bang for the buck.

 

For speed games, single stage.

For accuracy games, two stage.

Does it really matter? probably not.

 

How fast are we talking? I can pull a sub second bill drill from low ready with a SSA and it's a two stage, I have a super dynamic 3-gun as well but I can't run it any faster than my two stagers.......am I using the wrong single stage?

I used a scorpion for a long time in PCC and pin leagues, only problem is that my Czechmate was always faster so I've moved to an MP5 clone since then. It has a really long trigger vs a scorpion but much much smoother and the timer doesn't lie what gun is faster. I tired an MPX before hand and ended up selling it when a rental MP5 was 20% faster in the clock without reloads and 5% with reloads on strings over 10 rounds. Plus mine kept dying, big turn off for me.

 

Are MPXs using AR triggers? If so hiperfire just came out with a new trigger for PCCs. If not familiar with the, take your standard AR trigger. Add two springs on top whose geometry change to first lighten the pull weight, and second add as much as 30% increased hammer force. They are great for gaming, very short reset, near zero take up and hard hitting hammer. I run one in my PCC and 15-22 and 2 more in ARe. Needless to say I love them.

 

MPXs use an AR style trigger but because of the bolt velocity they beat AR triggers to death, so they have a modified version that protects against this.

 

I am using a 2 stage in my factory SBR MPX. I think its a Geissele rapid fire that Brownells was/is selling.

Pulling through the 1st stage isnt hard. 10-12 splits on close paper isnt hard.

I also have the same 2-stage on my SBR Guard in 9mm.

 

Theres also a big difference in how many 2 stage triggers feel. The 1911 for instance is considered a single stage trigger, though they tend to have a little take up before the break. The AR Gold, while technically a 2 stage trigger, feels just like a 1911 trigger. I have no issues running them fast in competition. My favorite is JP's original single stage competition trigger. I can run the fastest splits with that trigger than any others I've tried, which is most of them. Lol Its also one of the best deals for a single stage trigger. I also have a few 2 stage triggers and my favorite is the LaRue. I have a RR match 2 stage in my PCC and really don't like it for competition. A JP is going in it soon.
