This will be brief & to the point(s)...

Magazines used:
(2) Factory Colt 38 Super
(1) Ed Brown 38 Super that came with the Stakeout

Ammo Used:
(Factory) Aguila A +P 130 gr. FMJ RN - 1.267" C.O.A.L. (50 rds.)
(Reloads)
Blue Bullets 125 gr. RN Coated w/mixed brass - 1.251" C.O.A.L. (50 rds.)
Blue Bullets 125 gr. RN Coated w/mixed Super Comp brass - 1.269" C.O.A.L. (25 rds.)
RMR 115 gr. FMJ Mini-Match Winner TCFP w/mixed brass - 1.240 C.O.A.L. (50 rds.)

The pistol performed very well & unlike me at times, it was quite accurate!
However, there was one recurring (6 or 7 times) issue with the factory Aguila 130gr FMJ rounds. Specifically, those 6 or 7 rounds chambered, though not completely - i.e., the slide stopped approximately 3/16" proud of the receiver. Moderate thumb pressure on the back of the slide & all went into battery.

Aside from the aforementioned, the Stakeout ran like a scalded dog, with zero hiccups.

As was (also) mentioned in a YouTube Stakeout review, there are those less than ideal tooling marks inside the slide, at the ejection port. That & finish marring on the slide exterior, aft of the port ... I determined that the latter marring was caused by the bore brush that Tisas crammed into the factory case lid.

It might be prudent to run the Aguila ammo thru a taper crimp die, just to make sure they'll work smoothly. I've had to do that before, with Winchester Silvertips (in .38 Super, BTW), for my old Barsto barrel. It kept the bullets from being shoved deeper into the case, too, so it was an easy fix to a vexing issue with that ammo. It surely won't hurt anything.
I am shooting four .38 Supers now, and the Aguila shoots best in all those pistols, it's pretty good stuff, though apparently it needs a little help in your new pistol. I'm not busting on your pistol, I have five Tisas myself, though none of them are Supers, (yet).

That is indeed the problem, thank you. I grabbed a dozen or so Aguilas 130s from a new box & sure enough, every single round stopped proud of the hood.

And I have a countless number of Winchester 130 gr. bullets & I'm feeling the need to load up & plunk a few of those dummies ... ugh!

How much was your stakeout??
$549 - Tisas 1911A1 Stakeout 38 Super/9mm Pistol with Two Barrels and Nickel Finish

So, since that is said, did you shoot it in 9mm?
No offense intended to anyone, but I‘m a weirdo when it comes to 1911s & as with square-faced triggers; boutique 1911s & double-stack 2011s, I have no interest in 9mm 1911s.

I'm not busting on your pistol…
Too late, I threw it onto Gun Broker mere seconds after reading your “busting“ line 😂😉.

I initially thought the same about the Aguila’s crimpless case mouth after zooming in on the photo. My Colt 38S, as with an RIA 1911, devours anything it’s fed, including those 130s (Win’ & Aguila).

I shot my 38 Super Stakeout yesterday for the first time. Only 25 rounds as it was hotter than the hinges on the gates of Hell. At 24 yards from a bench over sandbags, the first 5 were reasonably well centered but strung vertically a bit due to my aiming no doubt. The next 20 were all a couple or three inches left. My load was with 115 grain RN Berry plated bullets over 6.7 grains of Shooter's World Ultimate Pistol powder. I used a different, more precise, aiming point and the groups were much tighter at 2 inches or a bit more. I'm not going to change my sights just yet without more testing with 124 grain Berry plated HBFN bullets. I plan for that to be my standard bullet.

The pistol itself has nice sights and a trigger that breaks cleanly at 4 pounds 1 ounce. My only concern is the barrel bushing. It's not as tight as I'd like but that can be replaced easily enough.

Awesome, hank you for this link, I didn't have this one. Saving now in favorites!!!

He has several Super loading articles. I used his recommendation of Titegroup and 115g HAPs for the most accurate load I ever shot in my Guardian. I will have to look up my notes when I get home and will post them. I had a 5 shot group offhand at 8 yds one ragged hole. I bought more Titegroup LOL

Was in my LGS last week when I saw the Stakeout, wow, what beautiful looking gun!
I loved the Nickel finish, wood grips, and the fact there was no gaudy billboards stamped on the frame & slide.
They had it priced at $599. I can't see me adding 38 Super, and I got enough 9mm.
Then, I do an internet search and see Family Firearms has it for around $450. Now I'm tempted!

I’ve got a Stakeout flying in the mail to my FFL, I’m very much looking forward to seeing this gun, no roll marks or lettering on the slide, supposedly the nickel finish is even and done very nicely, I’ve read. This will be my first 9 and 38super in the 1911 platform, I’m picking up some 38s ammo, and dies for the reloading bench. I got a really good price on this from GrabaGun on an Independence Day sale, at the price I paid, can’t hardly go wrong.

I just ordered one of these through my local shop. I have a GoldCup in .38 and wanted something less expensive to test my reloads in and from everything I have read about Tisas they are well made and all forged/machined.

My Colt won' feed Aguila or PMC 130 without a pass through the crimp die either.
