Should be ok for IDPA. Their smaller grip allows for a full three fingers hold for most people so not a whole lot of control loss. For USPSA you will have to do more reloads than your competition. My memory is terrible, I thought you shot a p320, this could be an interesting comparison.

 

I usually shoot a Glock 45 clone (Shadow Systems) with the 1911‘ish angled backstrap. Shot them side-by-side today. Need to make operating the slide release with my weak hand a habit. Staccato says they’re coming out with an extended competition baseplate, but haven’t seen an ETA.

 

Nice gun. I really like the fit of that smaller grip, I have a CS with that grip. When I got mine they were out of the 16 round magazines for a few months, finally got five extras. I did hear of possible problems with the 16 rounders and I just load 15 in them.

 

Staccato says 2 to 3 weeks. Hopefully it’s not months.

 

Just an update with a bit of venting. I've got around 250 rounds through my Staccato. It shoots just fine and it's accurate. The finish is good. But I'm disappointed.

The fit is rough. It doesn't operate smoothly like the Dan Wessons or Wilsons I've handled. The slide lock/slide release is so tightly bound it needs to be tapped out (yep, the slide release is aligned with the takedown notch). It looks like the back of the one piece recoil assembly is pushing hard against barrel link causing slide release pin to bind on the frame holes.

I contacted Staccato Support and their response was "The easiest fix is just to tap it out. This is something we've seen and it seems that it will loosen up over time. Put 1,000 rounds through it and it shouldn't bind up as much." That's a disappointing answer. My Tisas has a better fit.

I'll again update once I get 1,000 rounds through it.

Yes, that is pretty disappointing! At least for my P, it has always been easy to remove. I would not be too happy about that either. Good luck!

 

You mean all the hype isn't true that they are buttery smooth? Well tight fit alloy frames aren't that smooth, at least till they wear in. The steel frame P's are a lot better and the XL and XC are way better, but it might be that they have like 7/8lb recoil springs. On the slide stop, I have to take something and poke it out on my CS, the flush cut on the back and the way it's recessed I can't just bump it out with the bump on the right and snag it with my fingernail on the left.

 

Mine hasn’t gotten down to poke it out friction yet. It’s still at tap it out. I use a piece of 3/4” PVC pipe in the ejection port to hold the slide back. It lines up the takedown notch perfectly. Then a light tap with a brass drift frees it up. I’m hoping it loosens up Some more.

 

Thought I'd update this. I was able to pick up some blem mags to go with my blem pistol. I've got a little over 500 rounds through the C 2024 and shot it in a couple IDPA matches. It's a great shooter. It carries well. It points naturally. The action is crisp. It has the duty trigger, but it's still a really nice trigger. Flat shooter. The mags fit into my Kydex G43X mag holders like they were made for the Staccato mags. The only aggravating thing is getting the slide stop out for field stripping (see my post a couple above this one). I think it's a really nice pistol, but did I mention the whole slide stop thing is a little aggravating.

Was considering the Staccato but went with the Springfield Prodigy 4.24. It's been fun to shoot and flawless through 500 rounds. Did upgrade the slide release with an extended one.
