I am in the process of planning a Patriot Marksman purchase, and I would prefer to have a "kitchen table dealer" buddy handle the transaction. Are there any wholesalers that you folks could reccommend? Companies that are online would be my first choice, but I can shop from a catalog if need be.

I suppose I could use gunbroker, or DW direct, but where would you start?

The prices posted by DW Direct on gunbroker seem to have come down a lot. There is a blued experimental Patriot on there now with a buy it now price of $650. Thats not a bad deal in my opinion if you got a friend that is a dealer to do the transfer. As far as distributors go DW's seem to be scarce right now. AcuSport has a few blued Patriots, your dealer could probably order one from them. No Patriots listed at Lew Horton right now but if your buddy is a kitchen table dealer then he probably can't order from them anyway as they now require a picture of your store to get an account I believe. Bill Hicks is a posibility but they dont have a website to check and form what I have seen their prices are usually a little higher. I don't know anything about Ellett Brothers. Those are the four distributors listed on Dan Wessons website, all the contact info is there also if your dealer does not allready have it.

Most if not all of the distributors mentioned are not going to deal with a "kitchen table dealer" . They require photos and yellow pages ads .

OK, that fires one idea down the drain. Now, about gunbroker, and more specifically, DW. Do they have a problem with kitchen table dealers, or are they willing to deal that way?

Reason I ask, is that I might buy one from DW direct at gunbroker, but I'd hate to pay a local storefront shop the large $$ that they want for the transfer. If DW goes that way, I might just buy from them.

BTW, thanks for the answers, I am very new to this type of transaction.

DW will sell to any dealer with an FFL in my experience. 3 out of 4 of the listed distributors will also in my experience so I would not discourage your dealer from inquiring about the requirements of each.

Anyone selling from gunbroker, auctionarms, or guns america will sell to anyone as long as the gun is shipped to a signed FFL address. They don't care if it is a store or not just as long as they get their money and sell the gun legally. This is how I've purchased the last 3 of 4 guns.

I think Renegade has it right. Just about any of those including DW Direct will sell to you Via an FFL, table top dealer or not. As to what distributors, it looks like everyone that I know of has been listed.

Good luck!

All the best,

You might want to call Bill Hicks

I know soemone stated thier prices were kinda high, but my buddy who is also a kitchen table dealer bought mine through them. They were actually cheaper on my RZ than Lew Horton, and yes Lew horton wanted my buddy to jump through hoops before they would let him buy from them, after we got the price from Bill Hicks we told them to forget it, they were high on thier price anyways and the hoop jumping wasn't worth it. Bill Hick's treated my buddy fair and didn't make him jump through hoops. Like someone else already stated Keisler's is also a nice company to deal with.

Bill Hicks does have a website, here it is: http://www.billhicksco.com/
Hope this helps.

I ordered that pistol and was called a couple of days later and was told they made a mistake on the website. :hrm:
If you wanted to be a jerk and get a cheap pistol you should have argued that they advertised a specific price and that they must honor that price. That is dangerously close to a "bait and switch" scam. If you would have threatened legal action I am sure you could of got that advertised price. Of course, you would have been a jerk, but a jerk with a $419 Panther.

Of course I could have been halfway intelligent and looked at the site before I typed this all up and noticed the "All offers, promotions and prices are subject to change without notice. Product may vary from photo shown. " clause. Darn if I don't feel like a fool:dope:
