Picked up a .45 ACP Tank Commander today and so far I really like it! I am considering swapping in a spurred hammer and will definitely change the teardrop safety for a GI style and the ti firing pin for steel. I plan to shoot it "as is" tomorrow. Provided mags are parked MecGar and trigger pull is 6 lbs 5.5 lbs after some dry firing.

Nice, the MecGar seem to run fine but I bought some Chip McCormick match grade for my new Raider which have run absolutely flawlessly for me in my TISAS GI for 12+ years in SASS Wild Bunch completion.

I am happier with the MecGar mags than whatever 8 rounders came with my Stakeout. I am pretty well set for magazines even if the MecGars don't work out at the range.

Why the change? Fixing an issue or just upgrading? Thanks

Well, there's an idiot who lives in this house, and posts here, who 'might' have cross threaded one of the screws.

Since I like/prefer thins, I just bought 'the good stuff', including the tools to remove the bushings. The factory Tisas bushings were thins.....So part fix, part upgrade.

Did it come with the solid trigger or is that a replacement? Mine (bought last May) has a skeletonized trigger.
I replaced it. It’s a Cylinder & Slide short trigger. Wilson Combat bullet proof extractor and recoil spring. It didn’t need either of those, but I replaced them. Ran fine before, runs excellent now.

Here is my Tisas Tank commander 9mm (have two 45 1911's so I wanted to get a 9mm since most of my handguns are 9mm). I replaced the mainspring housing, the grip safety, changed to full length guide rod and a commander sized 9mm recoil spring, all Wilson combat drop in parts. I also changed the grip bushings and grips to slimline (Smith and Alexander black rosewood double diamond grips). The only reason I put in a full length guide rod is that it takes away a lot of the slide to frame play that this had. Now I need range trip to see if it works as well as it looks.

How was the fit on the Wilson beaver tail? I’m assuming that’s the commander drop in.

And that’s a really nice looking gun.

The beaver tail safety is the Wilson Combat full sized drop in model. It went right in and the only "issue" I have is that if the trigger is pulled with the grip safety being gripped, grip safety engaged, then the grip safety will stick in the off position, I assume on the trigger bar, and this only happens when the trigger is pulled on a the grip safety is being released. If the grip safety is gripped again it stops. It does not stick in the safe position and if the grip is safety is compressed then it does not happen and unsticks when gripped again. Hope that makes sense. Since it does not effect the 1911 in a way that would keep it from firing, I am not very worried about it.
