Howdy, I’m looking for a chest holster for my new Dan Wesson Specialist 10mm and was wondering if anyone had recommendations and first hand experience with this specific gun in a Gunfighters Inc Kenai Chest holster.
I talked to Gunfighters today and they don’t have a specific holster tailored to that exact gun so I would be ordering one based off the 1911 Govt and I worry these are not the same dimensions as the 10mm Specialist. I could use some help in searching for a chest holster if anyone has some recommendations and experience!
Thank you for your time.

The significant thing about this gun is not the caliber, but rather the rail. You need to order a holster for a 5" 1911 with a rail.

i own diamond d and simply rugged. make excellent chest rigs. call all three makers and ask if they make one for a rail. i do know that simply rugged changed some of their holster designs to accommodate red dot sights recently.

I've used more than a few chest rigs since abandoning the Tanker model holsters; the chest rig is way more usable for me and works better when carrying a pack. Here's a few options Don't have a pic that I can find, but the Diamond-D Guide's Choice is my FAV. Any maker worth dealing with can make you a rig for a railed gun BTW.

J Bossart rig. I call this the grab it and run out the door rig.

Unknown maker. Lousy place for a spare mag if you're in a hurry.

We carried .44s when in big bear country in tankers for quite a few years but gave up on them when we got our first Diamond-D for a 1911.

I just happen to have been reading a review of a chest holster, and the reviewer, a handgun hunter, didn't like the rig, or any chest rig, because it interfered with his binoculars, which hung at the same level on his chest.

No affiliation, but I really like my Craft Holsters. They seem to have just about every holster in stock, and they ship fast!

I carry my binos slung on a slightly long web strap off to my left side; they are in a position kinda' like where a Tanker holster would ride. Out of the way for the chest rig and doesn't interfere with pack straps yet easily accessible, whether toting a handgun or a rifle slung over the right shoulder. Has worked for me for more than a few years. The only thing I can't do when wearing a chest rig is tote a big arm load firewood. It takes a while to sort out what works best for you; that's probably why we all have a box of holsters (and a ton of other sh!t).

I do not have their Specialist holster (or any chest holsters), but I got these from Craft last year for my Bruin 10mm and my Anaconda:

They're very well made, and reasonably priced. They promised delivery in eight days, and I received them in three!

Rather than a chest holder, you might consider a shoulder holster. Simply Rugged maks a nice shoulder holster. I like that it attaches to your belt so it eliminates flopping and that while the gun is stored vertically, it is extracted horizontally. Sundles Ready Rig

Thank you all for the replies and insight! It is greatly appreciated. I will certainly call around and see what these other manufacturers offer. It does have a Surefire x300u attached, which I forgot to mention, as well.
That will be the most significant part for your holster search.

Almost everybody that makes holsters, makes a holster for a 5" 1911. Fewer make them for railed 1911's, though there are more and more everyday. Put a light on the gun, and your options decrease significantly, especially if you want leather.

On the good side, you've chosen the Surefire X300, one of the more common lights. Lots of folks choose some odd-ball light and then can't find a holster for that light. Also, many holsters for guns with mounted lights index on the light and less so on the gun model.

I hadn’t considered leather as an option but wow they look incredible! Why do you consider DD the Best? Comfort, function?
I’ll be using a chest bino harness also so I’m hoping the have the pistol to more to my strong side than central to fit everything.

If you are using a chest bino harness you may want to look at a tanker holster. It will put your gun off to the left side of your torso clear of the binos.
